The 2017 Update

February 6, 2017

It’s been a few years since I updated my blog. Not to say I’ve moved away from Microsoft technologies, no no, far from that, I am more engrossed with SharePoint 2013 on prem.

Learnings from the last few years:

  • Powershell (who would have thought that so much automation can be achieved with such a tiny shell!)
  • KQL – SharePoint search schema.
  • CSOM/JSOM – Incredible leaps and bounds into further customisation.

Latest development I have been creating includes customising a world map using SVG, HTML, CSS, Result Web Parts, Display Templates (the list goes on and on and on!)

Have attended many bootcamps, kept in touch with the loads of architects and professionals in the Microsoft sphere, to old faces and new.. Uzma is back on the blogging scene!

Amazing development works in SharePoint 2013

July 31, 2013

I have had a deep dive into SharePoint 2013 and I am on a cusp of go live

In recent weeks I have been in shock and awe with a very little appreciated tool … Powershell. By King George it is amazingly powerful. I have imported master pages, styles, iterated security groups, created sites libraries and wonderful work arounds.

From end user to consultant to developer and project manager; this is by far the most exciting period of my career. Creativity and innovation at its best.

SharePoint 2013 – content by search webpart

May 24, 2013

Over the last few weeks I have got to know a small element of SharePoint 2013. Despite the normal banging my head on the table situation, it is by far a really good product.

The Content By Search webpart is by far the best feature for me so far. It changes the prospective of using multiple views to personalise content to something a lot more simpler.

If you have been a designer like me and was annoyed with the lack of design view don’t worry. If you know your codes right, there’s always a workaround.
